Hotel housekeeping ensures guest rooms, public areas, and back-of-house spaces are clean, safe, and hygienic, typically involving daily, high-speed cleaning of 12–16 rooms per shift. Key duties include making beds, cleaning bathrooms, vacuuming, replenishing amenities (towels, toiletries), and reporting maintenance issues. 

Primary Responsibilities and Duties:

• Guest Room Cleaning: Stripping used linens, making beds with fresh linens, cleaning and disinfecting bathrooms, dusting furniture, vacuuming floors, and emptying trash.
• Amenity Replenishment: Restocking items such as soap, shampoo, coffee, towels, and toilet paper, as well as cleaning/replacing glassware and amenities.
• Public Areas & Hygiene: Cleaning and maintaining corridors, elevators, lobbies, gym areas, and public restrooms, with a focus on sanitizing high-touch surfaces.
• Maintenance Reporting: Identifying and reporting broken light bulbs, broken appliances, or damaged fixtures to the maintenance department.
• Safety and Confidentiality: Adhering to cleaning safety standards, handling cleaning chemicals properly, and respecting guest privacy/do not disturb signs.
• Inventory Management: Organizing, cleaning, and restocking housekeeping carts.

• Physical Stamina: Ability to stand, walk, lift, and perform repetitive physical tasks throughout a full shift.
• Attention to Detail: Ensuring high cleaning standards to meet brand requirements.
• Time Management: Turning over rooms quickly, particularly during checkout hours.

Housekeepers often follow a standardized "seven-step" cleaning process starting with removing trash/linen, moving to dusting, and finishing with deep cleaning the bathroom to maintain consistency.

o    Greet all lobby visitors with a genuine smile and warm welcome. Check-in and check-out guests

o    Confirm guest reservation details

o    Answer incoming calls, answer inquiries and address internal guest requests

o    Assist with luggage storage and help guests with arranging transportation

o    Complete shift checklist

o    Follow all PCI and cash handling SOPS

o    Track/Log all lost and found items

REQUIREMENTS

o    Experience in a customer-facing role (Minimum 1-2 years), Prior hotel front desk experience prefered

o    Successful history as a front desk agent or related hospitality experience

Houseman (Houseperson) Job Description

A hotel houseman (or houseperson) is a key member of the housekeeping team responsible for cleaning public areas, supporting room attendants, and managing heavy cleaning tasks. They ensure the lobby, hallways, and elevators are spotless, transport linens, restock supply closets, and handle guest requests for items like pillows or ironing boards. 

Key responsibilities of a houseman include:

• Public Area Cleaning: Cleaning the lobby, public restrooms, elevators, stairwells, and fitness centers.
• Supporting Room Attendants: Stripping dirty linen from guest rooms, delivering clean linens to floors, and removing trash.
• Deep Cleaning: Vacuuming, shampooing carpets, washing walls, and polishing furniture.
• Guest Requests: Delivering items to rooms and assisting with maintenance needs (e.g., changing light bulbs).
• Setup: Setting up and breaking down banquet or meeting rooms.

Additional Responsibilities

·         The houseman is responsible for keeping the entryway, sidewalks, and parking lot clear of debris.

·         The houseman position is also responsible for emptying all common area trash bins and taking hotel garbage to the main dumpster.  

This role is physically demanding, requiring heavy lifting, moving furniture, and spending long hours on their feet. Must be able to lift and carry items up to and including and possibly over 50 lbs.

o    Maintain maintenance logs and schedule PM to be completed

o    Be proactive in addressing maintenance concerns

o    Work with Hotel General Manager to create maintenance budgets

o    Maintain a professional and pleasant demeanor when interacting with guests and co-workers
